Who we are

Hi, my name is Erin Savoie, and I am an illustrator based in Salt lake city Utah. I enjoy creating work that is grungy with pronounced contrast in values and bold colors.

I specialize in painting and linework within traditional and digital mediums, which include photoshop, clipstudio, traditional acrylic paints and acrylic inks.

My body of work is created with a mix of traditional and digital methods, and features illustrative storytelling, figurative representation, and lastly linear perspective.

I first decide what medium I will work in for a piece, and then proceed to the ideation/thumbnail phase. From there I begin the under drawing phase, then intermediary refinement, then to completion and render stages. This process stays consistent regardless of the medium and may vary slightly in approach during the intermediary refinement stage.

I enjoy making work that either creates a sense of gothic story book etherealism, or evokes different opposing or conflicting feelings within my audience. For example in my oracle deck illustrations I wanted something cozy that felt gothic and otherworldly, or in my bug people illustrations I wanted people to find them aesthetically appealing and creepy at the same time.

My goal is to make work that tells a story not just in the text, but in the underlying details of the visual aspect of story telling. For example, I am inspired by Fun Home, a tragic comic, which takes an academic approach in visual story telling by including the background of each panel in addition to the written text and dialogue of each panel.
